U.S. Strategy for Sub-Saharan
Africa
"We believe in the nations of Africa, in the continent-wide spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation. And through the challenges ahead, although they are great, there is no doubt that our nations, our people, the African Union — we’re up to this task."
President Joe Biden
Africa Union Summit
February 5, 2021
Africa's Private Sector Bill of Rights
The Africa Continental Free Trade Area, set to become the largest Free Trade Area (FTA) in the global economy, will provide a huge opportunity for Africa by uniting 1.2 billion people into one market, with an estimated combined GDP of US$2.5 trillion, which is expected to reach US$29 trillion by 2050.
Africa is Rising
Africa has seven (7) of the fastest growing economies in the world, with the youngest workforce and a medium age of 17 years old. Africa is rich in minerals, natural resources and has 80% of the worlds arable land for agriculture. Forging trade relationships with Africa makes sense and they are welcoming us to the table.
Africa Breadbasket of the World
With rising world population and an imminent danger of food shortages in the future, Africa is well poised to become the global breadbasket and emerging as a major supplier of food. Africa has about 60% of the world’s unused cropland that can be used for farming and can create up to 8 million new jobs. It is being seen as a source of future food supplies for the rising population of the world.
AFRICA | Reshaping the Future of the World

Sub-Saharan Africa is critical to advancing our global priorities. It has one of the world’s fastest growing populations, largest free trade areas, most diverse ecosystems, and one of the largest regional voting groups in the United Nations (UN). It is impossible to meet this era’s defining challenges without African contributions and leadership. The region will factor prominently in efforts to: end the COVID-19 pandemic; tackle the climate crisis; reverse the global tide of democratic backsliding; address global food insecurity; strengthen an open and stable international system; shape the rules of the world on vital issues like trade, cyber, and emerging technologies; and confront the threat of terrorism, conflict, and transnational crime....
